Dr. Allison Foil Equine Externship Award

The Allison Foil Equine Externship Award is a scholarship that is designed to assist Phase 2 (year 3 and 4) veterinary students in the equine concentration who are attending an externship at an established equine practice. To be eligible for funding, a student must be enrolled full time (at the time of travel), in good academic standing, and not on disciplinary probation.

The Allison Foil Equine Award is designed to assist students who need to gain experiences that will augment the equine experience that they receive at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine related to their Phase 2 equine concentration.

To apply for a scholarship, the student must send an email or letter of request/justification to the Office of Veterinary Education and Student Affairs outlining how the externship will benefit the student in achieving their curricular and/or career goals. While the typical award is $400 to $500, travel awards may be for up to $1,000 depending on the type of experience and availability of
funds. Applications for travel funding should be submitted at least two weeks prior to departure.
