Dr. Jack and Annagreta Hojhdal Van Lopik Graduate Student Scholarship

The Dr. Jack & Annagreta Van Lopik Graduate Student Scholarship is awarded to full-time graduate students and post-doctoral recipients who are fully employed and enrolled at LSU. Recipients must demonstrate highly meritorious academic credentials and research potential to pursue graduate training, and his/her research endeavor must be relevant to the focus areas and strategic plan of the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program.

To apply, you will complete the application in BAM and provide the following information:

  • Focus Areas of Sea Grant that the proposed research will address and how.
  • Description of research that would be conducted.
  • Statement of how the Van Lopik Scholarship funds will support the student’s work and the need for the funding (how the funds will be used).
    8. Profile of the Applicant to include (i.e., two-page resume):
  • Related Work Experience, Awards, Honors, Recognition.
  • Publications, Presentations, Patents, etc.
    9. Current Financial Support (fellowships, scholarships, assistantships, work, etc.): funding amounts and commitments for funding during the duration of the proposed period of performance.
    10. Career goals and professional plans post-graduation.
    11. Two letters of support: one must be from the faculty mentor.

  1. Applicants will be solicited by an annual request for proposals that will be evaluated by a panel of experts in the appropriate fields. Unsuccessful applications may be re-submitted in the next annual round of competition and will not be treated with prejudice or advantage.
